Did you know that the 150-year-old Knox’s Galt Presbyterian church is one of the oldest and largest church buildings in the Waterloo Region? Explore the beauty of this six-story tower while listening to the skillful sound of an organ playing in the background. Maybe you would like to take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Fashion History Museum and enjoy an exhibition of fashion pieces from the past 300 years!  These are just two of the local buildings that will be open to the public on Saturday, September 16, 2017 for Waterloo Region’s Doors Open. The theme sites will reveal who we are as a region through historic buildings that represent the identity and innovation of the Waterloo Region.

If you are interested in a self-guided tour, look no further than our shelves. Sign out a copy of An historic driving tour of Cambridge, and take yourself throughout the city, marveling at the beautiful stone buildings. Alternatively, set aside an afternoon for a walking tour of any of the three city centres: GaltPreston and Hespeler.

Interested in taking a long walk to explore the hidden corners of Cambridge? Try taking the Cambridge Natural Heritage Tour! Sign out this little guidebook, and find the spillways, moraines and drumlins contained within the city. Don’t forget to sign out a Pedometer Kit at any of our locations and see just how many steps you’re taking. Kits include a Cycling and Walking Trails map for Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.
