Did you make a New Year’s resolution to learn something new? Then we have programs for you! This month join us at one of our locations and pick up a new skill – we’ve got something for everyone! Check out the monthly calendar for a full listing of events, and read on for some highlights.
Broken toaster? Ripped your favourite shirt? We can help! Instead of throwing out your broken items, bring them to our Repair Café at Preston on Saturday, February 10 from 1:00 – 5:00pm. You’ll learn how to repair the items yourself and save them from the trash can. From clothing and jewelry to small appliances and electronic devices, we’ll show you how to repair it and have fun doing it.
Are you a teen looking to try something new? We’ve got a program just for you! On Saturday, February 17 from 2:00 – 4:00pm, join us for an afternoon of No Needle Knitting at Queen’s Square. We will try arm-knitting, finger-knitting and paracord bracelet making. This is a teen program for ages 13 to 18.
Discover and Play on Family Day! Celebrate family with us at Idea Exchange Hespeler on Monday, February 19 from noon – 4:00pm. Kids can learn something new when they explore our STEAM stations and new Creative Kids room. Don’t forget to check out the Steve Oz Family Fun Magic Show from 2:30 – 3:15pm! Steve Oz, magician and juggler, will have everyone laughing and having fun during his amazing performance. Idea Exchange Hespeler is the only location open on Family Day.
Take your healthy eating up a notch and check out our Gardening and Beyond: Fermented Foods workshop on Monday, February 26 from 6:30 – 7:30pm. Two local experts will teach you all about the health benefits of fermented foods and demonstrate how to make sauerkraut and kimchi as well as kombucha, a fermented tea beverage. Yum!
