Happy New Year! It’s 2018 and with our winter programming officially starting, we have plenty of programs for everyone this month at Idea Exchange. Looking for great films, art courses, or technology programs? We’ve got you covered! Check out the monthly calendar for a full listing of events, and read on for some of the highlights.
We’re starting January with STEM week! From Tuesday, January 2 to Friday, January 5, explore all things Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. This exciting week of programming is designed for kids of all ages who want to dive into experiments, be creative, and try new things! Stop by our Queen’s Square, Hespeler, Preston and Clemens Mill locations from 10:00am to 4:00pm to participate in this free program.
Are you a musician or vocalist? Check out Music Is My Weapon, our free mentoring program at Clemens Mill where you can learn from recording artist Rufus John and a team of professionals about the processes of songwriting, arranging music and basic audio engineering. This program runs from Saturday, January 13 to Saturday, April 28 from 1:00 – 4:00pm, and is for teens and adults!
French is one of Canada’s official languages but how well can you speak the language? Join us for our Speak More French drop-in program on Wednesday nights at Preston from January 10 to February 28, 6:30 – 7:30pm, to brush up on your French conversation skills or to learn a little bit more of the language.
You can learn the basics of electronic components in our Build an A-Line Robot: Introductory Electronics Course at Queen’s Square! Instructor Calin Raszga (B.E.Sc.) with introduce you to resistors, capacitors, rectifier diodes and LEDs over the course of 8 weeks (Thursdays, January 18 to March 8 from 6:30 – 8:00pm) while you build a line following robot. This program is for ages 16+ and tools will be supplied.
