Idea Exchange | December 13, 2017
It’s cold outside, and you don’t want to go out any more than you have to. Time to read, watch movies, listen to music and indulge in some comfort food. You can stay warm and dry by using your electronic devices to access many things through Idea Exchange, using only your membership card.
Let’s start with comfort food.
We may not be able to help you get your groceries, but we sure can help you figure out what to do with them. Downloadable cookbooks. Lots and lots of cookbooks. Instant Pot Recipes. One Pot Meals. Saved by Soup. The Casserole Queens Make-a-Meal Cookbook. Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook. You get the idea. Turn that oven on and get started.
Now, how about some music while you cook?
In the mood for some laid back Paul Simon? Maybe Elvis really warms you up, or how about Johnny Cash? Something more modern? Sia? Pentatonix? Classical might put you in the right frame of mind. Want to try some Bach or Mozart? All free, and yours to keep.
Now that you’re finished in the kitchen, time to relax.
You already know that you can download books onto your tablet, smart phone or computer, either as e-books or audio-books, but did you know that we also have streaming movies? There are classics like Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and In the Heat of the Night, or you can do a little armchair travelling, either in our own country with Greatest Journeys: Canada or abroad with Discover England, Cheshire. Entertain the kids with Max & Ruby, or Robert Munsch’s Paper Bag Princess. We also have a great selection of magazines that you can download and keep! No one will know that you are reading National Enquirer, or if you are in a more serious state of mind, try the Economist, or Newsweek.
Or, how about some online courses just for fun?
Gale Courses are a great resource. When the weather is foul, you can find out about the Secrets of the Caterer, or how to make some Luscious, Low-Fat, Lightning-Quick Meals. If you really insist on following through on those New Year’s resolutions, how about taking a course on how to Lose Weight and Keep it Off? Maybe you’re feeling reflective, and you’d like to Write your Life Story?
Now that we’ve shown you how to use the library without leaving home, we don’t want you to forget about all the wonderful people at your local branch. Give us a call, send us an email , or talk to us via our chat option if you have any questions. We’ll miss you! Whenever the weather is good, please come visit us!
