Getting a driver's licence is one of the most important rites of passage for a young person. In Ontario, it also means many years of moving through the various stages of our graduated licensing system. The video below doesn't tell you this, but you don't need to buy an Official Driver's Handbook. The Library carries several copies you can borrow, for free! You can also test your knowledge with this online practice test to get your ready for the Ontario G1 licence. For more information about graduated licences, visit the Ontario Ministry of Transportation website.

If you are ready to take the written test, visit the Drive Test website to find the hours and location of the centre closest to you. Make sure you bring proof of your legal name, birth date, and signature. Check the list of acceptable identity documents on the Drive Test website and bring one of those.

The closest Drive Test centre to Cambridge is located in Kitchener. Here is a map to the testing centre. You can get driving or bus transit directions from Google Maps.
