Mya | December 20, 2016

Hello! My name is Mya, and I am a 16-year-old teen with a passion for writing. I am in grade 11 and attend Jacob Hespeler Secondary School. My hobbies include writing short stories, blogging, embroidery, calligraphy, photography, baking, and sewing. My love of sewing has taken form in the idea of a dog collar business and within the past few months I have now successfully created a business called “Plaid Pooch” where I sew handmade collars and leashes from recycled textiles.

Although I am relatively quiet and not the type of spunky person who talks to anyone and everyone, I am opinionated, honest, and outgoing through my short stories.

Later on, I want to excel in a field related to either history or medical sciences but I am not sure yet.

I love to volunteer and have accumulated over 260 hours since the end of grade 8.

I am honoured to have the title of e-writer in residence and I think that this blog will help connect teens to what they're passionate about.

Thanks,

Mya Kidson

For the record, Mya was also a winner in last year’s Poem-A-Day contest with her blackout poem entitled “47.” Congratulations on being Cambridge’s first e-writer in residence!
