Gallery Guide

Share Volunteer Impact:

Add a warm dash of ‘welcome’ to art galleries for our community – and refine your ability to converse and engage with people in the world of art.  Our Gallery Guides provide a warm, un-intimidating introduction to our art exhibitions and invite people to see art in a new light.

  • Provide a warm, un-intimidating welcome to Idea Exchange exhibits
  • Staff the information desk at Design at Riverside
  • Greet visitors and issue any required exhibit support materials
  • Escort individuals or groups through gallery exhibits.
  • Perform any administrative and/or gallery support projects left by the curator/gallery staff
  • Describe exhibit to group members and individuals and respond to questions and engage in conversation in reference to exhibits
  • Monitor visitors' activities to ensure compliance with establishment or tour regulations and safety
Time Required: 6 hours/month
Commitment: 1 year
Schedule: Alternate Saturdays
Location: Gallery

Volunteer Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or has completed University level education in Fine Arts or a related field
  • Ability to convey enthusiasm, passion and understanding of art with approachable attitude and unintimidating language
  • Ability to listen, define, explain and interpret ideas and exhibits
  • Ability to express ideas in easily understandable terms
  • Excellent speaking and subject knowledge skills
  • Ability to work as a team member and take direction
