Story Makers

Share Volunteer Impact:

Assist a child grades 3 to 5 with creative writing – and unleash creative talents of your own. Story Makers volunteers will encourage and guide a child through the creative process while gaining valuable mentoring experience.

  • Meet with child weekly for 1 hr
  • Assist and guide child through various creative writing activities
  • Provide encouragement and positive feedback to child
  • Contact the session leader in the event that you will miss a session or must discontinue your volunteering
Time Required: Weekly; 1 hour per week for seven weeks each session, plus 1 hour training.
Commitment: Eight weeks
Schedule: April 1 (training), April 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20
Location: Clemens Mill

Volunteer Qualifications

  • Interest and ability in creative writing
  • Interest in working with children
  • An encouraging, warm approach
  • An understanding of appropriate and responsible behavior
  • Reliable attendance is mandatory
Training & Support: A formal training session will take place within the two weeks before the session launches. Staff will be on hand for the duration of the program to provide support and guidance.Training session is April 1, at 6:30 pm.
