Brandon Vickerd is a Toronto based sculptor and Professor of Visual Arts at York University. He received his BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (1999) and his MFA from the University of Victoria (2001) and he has taught and lectured at art schools across Canada. His recent research draws its influence from contemporary mythologies and low brow sources, such as heavy metal music and comic books. Recent solo exhibitions include an exhibition at the Embassy Gallery in Edinburgh UK, Saint Mary’s University Art Gallery in Halifax NS (2008), and Nuit Blanche, Toronto, ON (2009). In addition he has received numerous awards and grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Toronto Arts Council, and the Ontario Arts Council.
