Co Hoedeman began his career in The Netherlands, before being hired in 1965 by the National Film Board of Canada, where he worked as an Animation Film Director until 2004. Since then, he has continued to be active as an independent film-maker and has hosted workshops, lectures and master classes. Over the course of his career, Co has participated in the production of some forty films, including the direction of twenty-two of them. He has received over eighty awards, including an Oscar for the film The Sand Castle (1978), the Grand Prix d’excellence Radio-Canada for Ludovic – the Snow Gift (2002) and the Klingsor Prize (Slovakia) for his life-time achievements. The prestigious collection of Co Hoedeman entitled Four Seasons in the Life of Ludovic is recognized and appreciated by young people around the world.
