Phil Irish, based in Elora, is a recent graduate of York University’s Masters of Fine Art Programme. Irish also earned his BA in Fine Art and Literature from the University of Guelph, and in 2007 was shortlisted for the Kingston Prize – Canada’s national portrait competition. To date, he has had a number of exhibitions at public museums, artist-run-centres and commercial galleries, including Oakville Galleries, Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery, Galerie Joyce Yahouda, Angell Gallery, and AKA Artist Run Centre. For Irish, the practice of painting is his way of exploring the emotional and physical worlds. Though is work he seeks to spark imagination and engage in deep dialogue with others.
