Talia Shipman is a photo-based interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in Toronto and New York City. Her technique is a mix of analogue and digital, often blurring the boundaries between the two. Her work focuses on issues of identity surrounding cultural and social conventions and traditons, human choices and responsibility, sexuality, environment, technoloy and colour. After receiving her BFA from Ryerson University in 2007, she has garnered numerous awards including Best in Show at Ryerson University's graduation Exhibition (2007) and Emerging Photographer from Canada, US and UK - Flash Forward, Magenta Foundation (2006 and 2008). Shipman has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Canada and the US, as well as being published for feature reviews of her work, and as an arts critic and writer. She is also the creative director of CART, a collective dedicated to supporting and promoting Canadian artist working abroad.
