On Wednesday September 3rd, two of the dedicated volunteers for Arts & Soul received the prestigious Mensa Educator’s Award. Millie Norry, President of Mensa Canada presented the official plaques to Maureen Hyman and David Hurst. Maureen and David were nominated by Carole Moran for their long time volunteer commitment and their dedication.
The gardens surrounding the Ferguson Cottage were in full flower and provided a perfect backdrop for the presentation ceremony. A number of the regular participants were present to congratulate Maureen and David for their great work.
A volunteer driven organization, Arts & Soul has provided artistic stimulation and a safe social space for participants since 2003. We at Idea Exchange have been proud to play a small role in this program by providing studio space and program coordination by Robert Thody, our Education officer. The free special workshops lead by local artists and mentors, and the weekly drop in sessions are held at our Queen’s Square studio September through June.
