Sayeh Sarfaraz is an amazing artist, and we have worked together on a couple of occasions now. I invited her to do a solo exhibition here at CG soon after my arrival. Her unbelievable ability to deliver touching subject matter in such simple and provocative ways makes her work stand out on numerous levels. She has a polished sense of chaos and navigates difficult territory of middle east politics through drawing and sculpture. Never thought the reality of dictatorship, and the the grey areas of democracy can be illustrated so provocatively through the use of Lego people and provide such a poignant access point even among the youngest of our audience. I really hope to bring her back again to Ontario (she's a Montreal artist), as this is one artist to really watch for.
