National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is coming up in November. This year, Idea Exchange is offering a range of online programs get your writing muscles revved up and ready to go. With many of us spending more time at home to prevent the spread of COVID-19, this is a fantastic time to discover the creative escape of writing or to delve even deeper into your writing passion.

Many NaNoWriMo participants set the ambitious goal of writing 50,000 words between Nov. 1 – Dec 1, but this isn’t mandatory. Writers working in any length or genre can participate in Idea Exchange’s write-ins and other events. The most important part of the experience is to conquer the blank page with the power of imagination, peer pressure and caffeinated beverages.

Join us for NaNoWriMo and let’s be creative together (even if we’re a bit farther apart than usual). Here’s what happening for National Novel Writing Month:

Wed. October 28, 7:00 - 8:30PM – Write That Novel!  Learn how to build a novel from the ground up in this webinar hosted by authors Caroline Topperman and Vanessa Ricci-Thode of the KW Writers’ Alliance.

Sun. Nov. 1, 7:00 - 8:00PM – NaNoWriMo Kick-off - It’s the first day of NaNoWriMo! Join us online to discuss your goals for the month and meet other authors in your writing community.

Throughout November, your NaNoWriMo Municipal Liaisons will be supporting you online with digital write-ins and other activities through the community forums. Check out the NaNoWriMo website to register and access amazing resources to help with your creative journey.

Tues. Dec. 1, 7:00 - 8:00PM – NaNoWriMo Finale – You’ve conquered the month of November and written up a storm, now it’s time to celebrate your achievements in this online event. There will be prizes, activities, and inspiration!
