When the winter eases off a bit, and we start to feel the warmth of the sun again, it is easy to remember how good it feels to be outside. Those first jacket-free days feel like freedom!
These fresh days make everything feel new again – and nostalgic. So many childhood memories come from playing outside. We all know that feeling of the wind on your face as your race your bicycle down trails or sidewalks, or digging your hands into fresh soil. As adults, sometimes we can get a bit further from these giddy experiences, even though more and more studies show the mental and physical benefits of time outdoors.
Idea Exchange, Preston has some great upcoming opportunities to soak up outdoors time this season while celebrating our community and library.
On Saturday, May 4 from 2:00-4:00 we host our 2nd Annual Earth Day Community Clean-Up and Bike Tune Up. Pitch in to help tidy up our neighborhood, connect with local organizations, pick up seeds for your garden, get a free bike tune-up, and enjoy activities for the whole family.
On Saturday, May 25 from 10:30-11:30 we host our annual Planting Day to celebrate our garden opening for the year. Help us plant seeds and prepare to enjoy our beautiful garden until the snow flies again. There will be activities for the whole family, and we will supply everything you need!
Don’t forget that Idea Exchange has plenty of resources to help you enjoy the great outdoors anytime, too. We have garden tools, pedometer kits, hiking poles, bike locks, sports equipment, a seed library, and, of course, plenty of books. Whether you are interested in wildlife, travel guides, philosophy, true-life outdoor adventures, or anything else, just ask a librarian, or search our catalogue.
See you outdoors!
