As cooler weather blows in, it's time to start planning for cozy, creative and fun activities for the kids! Check out some of our highlighted series and programs below, and visit our calendar for more.


WEEKLY ONLINE PROGRAMS

All programs use Zoom and registration is required. Register online at ideaexchange.org. Programs run November 8 to December 17.

 

Explore-a-Story Book Club

Mondays: 10:00am

Enter the land of make believe as we bring story books to life through fun activities, songs, and adventure. Participants can pick up kits in advance at Queen's Square. All Ages.

 

Kindergarten Concepts

Tuesdays: 10:00am

Make new friends and have fun during this school readiness program. Ages 3 – 5.

 

Baby Book Club

Tuesdays: 2:00pm

Cuddle up with your baby, connect with other families, and enjoy specially selected books. Participants can pick up kits in advance at Queen's Square. Birth – 12 months.

 

Music 'n Motion

Wednesdays: 10:00am

A high energy dance party to get moving and create musical themed crafts. All Ages.

 

STEAM Storytime

Thursdays: 10:00am

Each week we will highlight one of the concepts of STEAM programming: science, technology, engineering, art, or math with stories, songs, and activities. All Ages.

 

Math Quest

Thursdays: 4:00pm

Explore and practice adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, fractions, place values, money, time, shapes, and more. Optional kits are available at Queen's Square. Ages 6 – 12.

 

Picassos at Home

Fridays: 10:00am

We'll sing, dance, and share some stories; then, we'll make a craft together. Participants can pick up craft kits in advance at Hespeler. All Ages.


VIRTUAL AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS

These events take place on Zoom and registration is required.

 

Pirate Party

Tuesday, November 16: 4:00pm

Shiver me timbers! Dress up as a buccaneer or swashbuckler for a jolly good time. Ages 7 – 12.

 

Wacky Words Winter

Tuesday, December 7: 4:00pm

Let’s play some word games - find the word hidden in the picture, Boggle, 4 pictures 1 word, and more. Ages 5 – 12.


OLD POST OFFICE ONLINE

Build skills in computational thinking, problem solving, and creativity with staff from the Old Post Office – no experience required. All programs use Zoom and registration is required. Ages 8 – 12.

 

Google CS-First: Coding with Music and Sound

Wednesdays, November 10 to 24: 6:00pm

Participants learn to code play musical notes, create a music video, and build an interactive music display using Scratch 3.0. Working together, they will solve problems and debug code, sharing projects at the end of each workshop.

3D Design a Snowflake with TinkerCad

Wednesday, December 1: 6:00pm

Create a unique snowflake in 3D using a free in browser software. Design can be printed in the Old Post Office Makerspace
