Emma, Preston | January 2, 2019

The first official seed swap day was held on January 26th, 2006 in Washington DC. Seed Swap Day is now celebrated throughout North America on the last Saturday in January. A seed swap allows gardeners to come together and exchange seeds from their best plants. It is a great way to support sustainable food and gardening practices, nurture locally adapted plant varieties, share rare and heirloom varieties, and foster a culture of sharing.

Idea Exchange Preston launched our seed library on January 28th, 2017. Since then our seed library has always been well stocked with a variety of vegetable, flower and herbs seeds donated by our community and over 3000 seed packets have been borrowed!!

We are so proud of this success and excited by all the seed swapping that has occurred in Cambridge over the past two years. Join us to celebrate the 2nd year anniversary of the Idea Exchange, Preston Seed Library with a free concert and refreshments.
