If you’ve visited our Hespeler location in the past couple months, you may have noticed work occurring on the hardwood flooring on the main level and painting of the walls on the second level. In preparation for the 100th anniversary of the Carnegie Library Building, we are giving the space a refresh.
Starting on Monday, April 17, the remainder of the main floor in front of the elevator, main staircase, member services desk, and front entrance will be completed. The work is expected to take approximately 3 - 5 weeks.
While the work is occurring, the main level may look different. The following services will be affected during this time period:
- Update: As of May 16, 2023, the elevator has returned to service and the main staircase is now available again.
- The entrance will be available, with access inside the building being re-routed through the program room and into the hallway surrounding the children’s department.
- Some children’s programming may be moved to the second level.
- The member services desk will be re-located inside the children’s department.
- An additional children’s play area will be located on the second level.
Our staff are here to help! If you are unable to access the second level via the staircases, staff will be happy to assist by retrieving materials for you. Another available option is front door pickup. Please call the Hespeler location at 519-658-4412 to request your items and a pickup. Additionally, two public computers will be available on the main level for internet access and printing.
Thank you for your understanding and patience while we complete this work.
