What kid doesn’t love hands-on exploration? Gardening is the perfect opportunity for kids to squish their fingers into the soil, tend to the new sprouts that appear and then pluck fresh veggies to eat. Whether you and your kids are new to gardening or experienced pros, Idea Exchange Seed Library is here to help you experience the joy of gardening.
This year, pick up free seed kits at all Idea Exchange locations. These themed kits contain a variety of seeds and change weekly, so drop by often to see what is available. If you’re interested in a specific type of seed, visit the Preston location to view the full stock of available seeds in the seed cabinet. Also at the Preston branch is a tool lending library, with tools to help you start and maintain a garden. At the end of the season, try saving some seeds from the produce you grew. This will allow you to enjoy the experience of gardening and eating fresh produce again next year. And if you have extra seeds, the seed library gratefully accepts seed donations.
Once again, Idea Exchange is excited to be a part of One Seed, One Community Cambridge. This year the seed selected is the Golden Queen tomato. Seeds are available at all Idea Exchange locations and everyone is invited to share in the experience of growing this delicious vegetable. Learn more at the OSOC Facebook page.
Looking for even more family fun? Idea Exchange Preston is thrilled for the return of our annual Earth Day celebration! Join us on Saturday, April 23 at 10:30 am for fun crafts and family activities, a community clean-up and take home a seedling to plant to get your garden started.
