Once upon a time in Cambridge, Ontario a mysterious new library appeared in the Village of Hespeler. Seven year-old Michaela and her four-year-old sister, Eliana, climbed into the library to find it filled with books. Michaela and Eliana soon discovered that the books could take them anywhere they wanted. Now, 6 years later, they start a new adventure: the Summer Reading Program!
Michaela thoughtful and creative. Her favourite books are The Magic Treehouse Series by Mary Pope Osborne, The Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and the Elephant and Pig series by Mo Willems. Each book is important to her for different reasons. From humour to adventure, each book has inspired Michaela in different ways. She even wants to be a treehouse builder.
Eliana is creative too, but her personality is punctuated with a distinctively spunky attitude. Living her life like the character out of her favourite book, Eliana adores the Fancy Nancy stories by Jane O’Connor. Relating to the happiness and the vibrancy woven into each plotline, she can’t get enough of this series.
Both girls believe that family is extremely important. Priding themselves on being helpful, Michaela and Eliana are the perfect role models to their younger sister, Abigail, and it is obvious that there is a strong loving bond in the family. When they grow up, the girls expressed that they are excited to become mothers and have happy little girls and boys. Just like Fancy Nancy and the Magic Treehouse, the theme of family is obvious when it comes to how these girls love each other and there isn’t a fancy (or better) way to say that.
