Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of Greg Heffley or Nikki Maxwell. Both authors document their characters’ chaotic lives through sketches and diary entries. But have you heard about our friend Joy –writer and artist extraordinaire? Just wait, you will!

Joy aims for success in everything she does, having won both weekly and grand prizes in previous Summer Reading Club contests. Joy hopes to pursue a career as a fashion designer, a profession tailored to her patience and attention to detail. Currently, Joy is teaching herself how to draw anime-style.

Joy also writes and illustrates her own books at home. Her only complaint? That she writes so often and for so long that her hand cramps! Drawer of landscapes and anything she sets her eyes on, Joy has always wanted to draw dolphins and if stranded on a deserted island, she’d bring her sketchbook to do just that (she’d also bring her mom and dad, of course).

Constantly reading books like her favourite series Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney and The Dork Diaries by Rachel Renee Russell, Joy loves the experience of seeing a character’s life unfold through story. Maybe one day, we’ll get to see a character of her creation find a home on the bookshelves of Idea Exchange. Thanks for sharing your story with us, Joy!
