Today, I had the opportunity to talk to Katrina and her mother, who I have gotten to know over the last three years working at the Summer Reading Club desk. Katrina loves the Summer Reading Club and visits often with many books she’s read. Today she told me about the book Nate Likes to Skate written by Bruce Degen. It was her favourite story she read and “liked when they wore all the hats while they skated at the end.”

Katrina is six and will be starting first grade in September. She just finished kindergarten and told me her favourite part was “Art Studio” and making lots of arts and crafts. She has also made lots of friends at school and loves playing with her friends at school.

For fun she told me she likes playing board games and watch movies. Her favourite games to play are Mousetrap and The Game of Life: Junior. Her favourite movies are The Minion Movie and any Barbie movie. Her mom joked that she has so many movies to pick from she draws a name out of a hat!

Katrina also loves to dance. Katrina brought a friend to visit the library with her today and Katrina’s mom told me that they both attend a dance class together in the school year. They both love this dance class because they learn and get to dance many different styles.
