The Big Dark is a wonderful, bite-size speculative fiction novel for kids and teens, and explores what would happen if the world was suddenly without electricity. All cars, appliances, lights, you name it, all kaput. You will root for main character Charlie Cobb as he goes on a dangerous adventure to find medicine for his diabetic mother. The book isn’t afraid to tackle issues like bullying and hate speech. Highly recommended for the kid who likes to read a thrilling adventure, and for the parents who like them too!
