For most of us, this last year has been about adapting to major changes in our personal, family, and working lives. While there’s no denying things have been difficult for everyone, I would argue those who have lost jobs due to the pandemic have had it harder than most. At Idea Exchange, we are committed to meeting the current needs of the community around us. That’s why in the coming months, we will be offering free resources aimed at helping people find the right job for them in these uncertain times.
Every Idea Exchange building has free Wi-Fi, and most have study tables available for the public use for one hour per day if you need a quiet place to job search or work on your resume. Public computers are available to use for 45 minutes and our printing, copying, faxing, and scanning services are available 6 days a week.
If you are looking to learn new, high-demand skills, or simply want to boost the skills you have, try one of our popular online learning resources. Free with an active Idea Exchange Membership:
- Gale Courses offers access to free online learning courses for popular topics such as computer applications, writing, and business that are available anytime, anywhere. These instructor-led courses begin every month and each course lasts for 6 weeks.
- Lynda.com allows you to access thousands of completely free online courses in business, technology, and creative skills taught by industry experts. Simply log in using your library card, set up an account, and learn a new skill, on your time.
Wednesday afternoons in April, we will be running 4-part webinar series in partnership with Lutherwood. These webinars will explore job-hunting in the modern age, covering everything from resume building to mastering job interviews.
