I’ve become obsessed with de-cluttering. My children are now 20 and 18 and my husband and I are wanting to downsize in a few years. It’s amazing the amount of stuff you can collect over many years, especially when you have kids! For me, it’s been a bit overwhelming so of course I have turned to Idea Exchange for help.
I’ve read quite a few books on the subject. My favourites include:
I went to a workshop before Christmas presented by a professional organizer (Adeilah Dahkle of Jigsaw Organizing Solutions). It was part of the Preston location’s Gardening and Beyond series called Holiday Organizing. It was helpful. I was inspired by Adeilah’s other workshop during Preston’s Eco Day: Junk Drawer Organizing – I finally organized my own junk drawer!
Recently I’ve also taken to watching documentaries. Kanopy has been great for that! It’s free and all you need is an email address and your Idea Exchange membership number to view awesome films. I’ve seen:
- Minimalism: The Many Levels of Minimalistic Lifestyles (79 minutes)
- Shop ‘Til You Drop: The Crisis of Consumerism (53 minutes)
- Minimal to the Max: Homes by Design (25 minutes)
I still have a long way to go on my own way to minimalism but I know that Idea Exchange will help me!
