"Volunteering at Idea Exchange makes me feel useful to my community and empowers me to be more confident in life." – Maria Bolhuis

Are you new to Canada? Have you just arrived to the City of Cambridge? While you are discovering your new home, don’t forget to stop by Idea Exchange. From programs and services like free online Gale and Lynda.com courses, Settlement Workers, bilingual tours, and English Conversation Circles, Idea Exchange is here to help.

Whether we were born here or chose to make Canada our home, we all need to feel a sense of belonging, and belonging starts with knowing our neighbours. For newcomers, making these connections can be difficult. Between cultural and language barriers and the unfamiliarity of our systems, resources and opportunities to participate, getting settled can be a challenge.

Joining our volunteer team is a great way to meet new people and to get involved in the community. Volunteering will give you the opportunity to use your skills and learn new ones along the way. Lending a hand in our programs can also decrease the isolation that can come with being new in town and can help build a sense of belonging over time.

To join our volunteer team, please fill in an application on our website. New volunteers will be welcomed next in May.
