Get Hands On: News for Makers

Shelves with maker items at Idea Exchange, Clemens Mill.

Whether you’re a long-time DIYer or brand new to the world of making, Idea Exchange should be the next stop on your creative journey.

For the 3D print enthusiasts out there, there are Ultimaker 2+ machines available at our Clemens Mill and Hespeler locations. The Old Post Office, in addition to the Ultimaker 2+, runs a range of 3D printers, including the Ultimaker S5. The S5 sports a larger print space and dual extrusion for two-colour prints or intricate designs, using water-dissolvable filament for supports. Call or visit the appropriate location to learn more about 3D printing services.

If you are 18 or over and live outside our reciprocal area, drop by the Old Post Office to apply for the new Non-Resident – Old Post Office membership which allows you to use the in-house equipment at this location!

In other exciting maker news, the Clemens Mill MakerHUB is ready for booking by students, teachers, and community members. Use a variety of equipment to invent, collaborate, and design – transforming your ideas into reality. Create innovative video or photography projects with the green screen, or photograph small objects in the perfectly-lit Shotbox. Fire up the sewing machine and bring your fabric creations to life, or crank out pin-back buttons with one of two button-makers. And, for paper crafting, the MakerHUB boasts a Cricut Explore Air, as well as Ellison and Sizzix die-cutting machines. Ask the friendly staff at Clemens Mill for details about booking this hands-on creative space for your next project.
