How to Guide

Getting Started

  • Click on the View menu at the top of the window.
  • Select Zoom to choose your preferred view ranging for the page.
  • Once you have a comfortable view of your page, you can start designing.

Creating Shapes

The shape creation modes are a fun place to start experimenting.  Look for these icons on the menu on the left-hand side of your screen:

These will allow you to create squares and rectangles, circles and ellipses, stars and polygons, and various spirals.

Click on the icon for the type of shape you want to create and a menu will appear at the top of your page like this:

Menu for Shape Icons

Use this menu to specify the unique elements of the geometric object you’d like to design. Click and drag on the blank page to place your new shape.

Calligraphic Pen Tool

Another fun tool to try is the calligraphic pen.

Calligraphic Pen Tool

Click on the icon on the left-hand menu to activate it. It will allow you to draw or create text as if you were working with a calligraphy pen, creating a fluid ink stroke effect.

Bezier Curve Tool

The Bezier Curve tool can be tricky to work with at first, but can be used to create very effective line art. It can be used to draw straight lines of varying thickness or to create precise Bezier curves.

Click on the Bezier Curve icon on the left menu.

Bezier Pen Tool

Click on the part of the page where you want your line to start, then drag the line out with your mouse to where you want it to finish. Simply click on the finish point to create a simple straight line.

To create a Bezier curve instead, hold the mouse button down and drag your mouse until the red line on the screen shows the curve you want to make, then let go.

3D boxes

Create 3D boxes using the 3D box tool on the menu at left.

This works on the same click-and-drag principle as many of the other shapes and works wonderfully for creating background perspectives.

Adding Text

Add text to your design using the Text tool.
