Get up close and personal with local makers and artists in these drop-in, show and share style events. Each special guest will inspire you to make your own creations in our new Makerspace and Creative Studios at the Old Post Office.
The Old Post Office will be equipped with a laser cutter, but what can you make with it? Laser cutting artist Josh Bean will show examples of his work and even show you how he makes his designs on Thursday, August 2 from 6:30 – 7:30pm. Be inspired to create jewelry, coasters, decorations, and so much more. See Josh’s work at Planet of the Apiaries.
Get ready to learn all about soldering and how you can make a robot yourself with local engineer Cal Raszga! Join him on Thursday, August 9 from 6:30 – 7:30pm. Calin Raszga has been volunteering his time with Idea Exchange, sharing his passion for robot building. You might recognize him from his popular Build an A-Line Robot program that introduces the basics of electronic components by using soldering irons to construct simple motorized robots that are built to follow in-line routes.
Can’t get enough of our Meet A Maker series? Good news: more sessions are coming in the fall!
What happens when you combine technology and tradition? Amazing quilts! Libs Elliott turns digital code into physical quilts using a programming language called Processing. Libs is a textile artist and designer exploring the intersection of technology and traditional craft by using generative design to build handmade quilts. Come out to Meet A Maker: Libs Elliott on Wednesday, November 21 from 6:30 – 8:00pm to learn more. This event requires registration.
