Idea Exchange’s newest location, the Old Post Office, has been recognized by Canadian Architect as a winner of the 2018 Canadian Architect Award of Excellence. Designed by RDH Architects, a firm based in Toronto, the Old Post Office’s design was praised by jurors for the restoration and revival of the heritage part of the building coming together with the significant, modern additions.
Now in their 51st year, the awards recognize projects that are in the design stage, scheduled for construction, or under construction but not substantially complete by the award deadline. This year, 190 submissions were received for both professional and student designs. Among the winners are Windermere Fire Station 31 in Edmonton, the New Paddock F1 Grand Prix du Canada in Montreal, and The Arbour in Toronto (part of George Brown College’s Waterfront Campus).
