Adult Poetry Judge
Wendy Visser is an established poet and long-time member of the Cambridge Writers Collective. She is the author of two full poetry collections; 'Riding A Wooden Horse' (winner of the WRAC book award in 2007) and, 'This Side of Beyond', and co-author of 'haiku by two'. Her work has recently appeared in Ascent Aspirations Anthology and Tower Poetry. Her contribution to Tower Poetry can also be viewed on their website. Wendy's poems have been included in Quern, an anthology showcasing the work of eight Canadian poets, launched June,2013. Wendy was one of the original planners for the first Poem-A Day contest and is thrilled that this contest is thriving and delighted to be involved again.
Youth Poetry Judge
Kevin Sutton is a spoken word artist, page poet, actor, playwright, workshop facilitator, activist, and community organizer. A regular of Hillside's Sun stage, Kevin uses his words to empower his audience and, he hopes, to inspire a peaceful change towards a more resilient local and global community.
Children's Poetry Judge
Katelyn Pomeroy has been featured in several poetry collections and is a full-time student studying English and literature at Wilfrid Laurier University. She is convinced that writing is the best form of art, that it is meant to be shared and enjoyed with the world.
French Poetry Judge
Maureen Durnin holds degrees in French literature and in language and literature education. She is a retired French Immersion teacher who over the course of her career has lived for extended periods of time in French-speaking Canada, France and Switzerland, and has taught at university, secondary school, and primary school. At every level, she has shared with adults, teenagers, and children her love of the language and its possibilities.
