Play-in-a-Day is a one-day drama program offered by Green Light Arts. The day includes team building exercises, group drama activities, lots of moving, and rehearsal/creation time to build an original presentation. Play-in-a-Day is focused on process rather than finished product. At 4:30pm, parents/guardians are invited to watch the participants perform their unique theatre piece.
Programming is led by Green Light Arts staff. Founded in 2014 by Matt White and Carin Lowerison, Green Light Arts is a not-for-profit theatre company based in Waterloo Region. Their mission is to create and produce entertaining, challenging, and unique theatre experiences that engage and inspire audiences to make the world a better place. They produce theatre in traditional venues and non-traditional spaces, run arts education programming for youth ages 6 and up, and organize community engagement and outreach events to bring the social themes of their theatre work into larger conversations within the community. By 2019, they will have provided Waterloo Region with 20 theatrical projects including 8 original works, 2 Canadian premieres, and 5 presentations. Select projects: Andy Warhol presents: Valerie (2014), The Amish Project (3-city tour, 2017), In the Centre (2017), Touch (2018), Will You Be My Friend (at Theatre Passe Muraille, 218), and Guarded Girls (with Tarragon Theatre, 2019).
