Description:

The Student Art Innovation Lab invites Cambridge to try out indigo dyeing at Idea Exchange. Indigo dyeing is a 6000-year-old process and it is still widely used around the world. Due to its historic value within trading circles, indigo was coined the nickname “blue gold”.

For this drop-in event, we will be working with an indigo vat dyeing process using Japanese tie-dye (Shibori) techniques and drawing with China Markers as a resist.

We use 100% natural indigo dye that is non-toxic and safe to handle.

Some materials provided but feel free to bring your own piece of light coloured cotton fabric or t-shirt.

Suitable for all ages.
