Let's Read Family Literacy Program

Recurring Events

  • Two young boys reading

Let’s Read is a Waterloo Region wide family literacy initiative in partnership with Idea Exchange, Kitchener Public Library, Waterloo Public Library and many others! Together we are working to get the families of Waterloo Region reading - reading the same book, reading together as a family, and reading together as a community.

Literacy is important for the whole family. Children who are read to and who see their family reading demonstrate improved reading skills. Make literacy a family project and let us help.

Each year one Canadian book is selected for families in the community to read and enjoy together from September until Family Literacy Day in January.

Let’s Read has selected Even Superheroes Have Bad Days by Shelly Becker as the title for 2018. This energetic picture book has plenty of fun ideas to help kids cope when they’re feeling overwhelmed. Families across the region are encouraged to attend events and read this story together.
