August is here and it’s hard to believe the summer is already halfway over. The days are hot so beat the heat with some awesome programs inside. We’ve got something for everyone! Read on for some August highlights, and check out the monthly calendar for a full listing of events.

Take on a new hands-on craft with DIY Cat Coasters Pop-Up. On Saturday, August 3 from 2:00 – 4:00pm at Preston, join us to sew your own adorable felt cat coaster. All materials will be provided and registration is required.

Do you have boxes of old photos, slides, film negatives, or VHS tapes? Are you still holding on to audio cassette recordings or your collection of old vinyl records? Intro to Digitization is the program for you! On Tuesday, August 13 from 6:30 – 7:30pm at Old Post Office, come and learn how to digitize analog media to preserve your memories for years to come. This program requires registration.

Cambridge Comic Arts Festival is back! Come to Queen’s Square on Saturday, August 17 from 10:00am – 4:00pm for a full day of free activities and displays for comic lovers of all ages. Check out art from over 30 vendors (artwork is available for purchase), take your kids to the superhero themed STEAM Stay & Play, get your photo taken with some cosplayers, and more! No registration required.

Have you explored the branches of your family tree? Sign up for Ancestry for Beginners and we’ll give you an overview of Ancestry Library Edition. Who knows what secrets or surprises you may uncover in your family’s history! This program takes place on Saturday, August 24 from 2:30 – 4:00pm at Clemens Mill. Registration is required.

Travel back to Hogwarts this month with our Harry Potter Escape Room. One last horcrux has been hidden in the Room of Requirement, use your puzzle-solving skills to find it before the Death Eaters arrive! Sign up for this program on Thursday, August 29 from 3:00 – 8:00pm; Friday, August 30 from 1:00 – 5:00pm; or Saturday, August 31 from 1:00 – 5:00pm. This program requires registration.
