Hello February! Whether you’re hoping for an early spring or can’t get enough of winter, we have lots of great programs to keep busy and having fun with the community this month. Read on for some February highlights, and check out the monthly calendar for a full listing of events.
Call all music lovers! Come make music with us at the Old Post Office! We’re hosting Saturday Music Jams on February 1 and 29 from 2:30 – 4:30pm. Drop-in to play an instrument, practice your scales, or just jam with fellow musicians. All instruments, singers, and skill levels are welcome. Bring your own instrument, or try out one of ours!
Are you new to town or new to Canada? Come to our Welcome to Town Drop-In on Saturday, February 8 from 2:00 – 3:00pm at Queen’s Square to visit with our Newcomer Welcome Committee. You’ll discover the best kept secrets in town and learn about resources, services, and other opportunities that will help you make Cambridge your home. Stick around for our So You Think You Know The Library Tour from 3:00 – 4:00pm to discover how Idea Exchange can support creativity, innovation, and life-long learning. Registration is required for the tour.
Hey trivia fanatics! We’ve got two awesome trivia programs this month just for you. First up is Trivia Night on Wednesday, February 12 from 6:30 – 8:00pm at Clemens Mill. With no set theme, this program is perfect for fans of Jeopardy style games. Please bring your phone or tablet to participate, and registration is required. Next up is our Harry Potter Trivia Night! Presented by Miss. Campbell’s Trivial Soup at Queen’s Square, participants will be tested on their knowledge of the Boy Who Lived and promises to be a night of fun for both wizards and muggles. This program is $5.00 + HST and requires registration.
In 2011, Jessica quit her job and jumped on a plane to New Zealand in hopes of being cast as an extra in the film The Hobbit. Hear her recount her adventures in New Zealand at My Story: In The Footsteps of Hobbits on Saturday, February 15 from 2:00 – 3:00pm at Preston. From spotting movie stars to sand-surfing, this presentation will feature photos and anecdotes from Jessica’s trip of a lifetime.
Our Repair Café is back this winter on Saturday, February 22 from 1:00 – 5:00pm! Bring your clothing, jewelry, small appliances, and electronic devices that need fixing to learn a new skill all while having fun. Registration is required. Don’t miss the One Seed, One Community Launch Party from 2:30 – 3:30pm!
