Leah, Queen's Square | October 3, 2011

Uh-oh, what do I want to say about myself? Well you may know me as that friendly woman on the Fiction floor with the big curls and the crazy earrings. Although I do have various nicknames that patrons have given me - one calls me “Smiley” and one calls me “Trouble” and those are only the ones they’ll tell me about!

Both my parents are avid readers so, as a child, I had to read to amuse myself, nay, to survive! I guess the habit stuck in a big way. Now I greedily devour all kinds of books although my favourite genres are mystery and romance. I’m so lucky that I can come to work every day and love what I do.  I like helping people and making their day a bit happier. The best part is when I get to talk about books I love and get another reader hooked. *insert diabolically evil laugh here* Yes, I’m a book pusher! But rest assured, I only recommend books of the highest quality.

Outside of work, I like to dance so if you see someone flailing their arms around to a hip-hop beat, that’s me. I also enjoy swimming - it takes me back to my childhood when I’d pretend to be the Little Mermaid! I’m a trivia buff too, so I have lots of useless knowledge floating around in my head and I’m one of those people who loves cards and board games. A perfect evening for me is hanging out with friends, playing the Mexican Train domino game. I just try to do what makes me happy and more and more, I find it’s the simpler things that I enjoy. I mean, what’s more fun than a rousing game of Mario Party where you can crush your friends? Not much!
