  • An old castle by the shore

While collecting forget-me-nots at Craigh Na Dun in Scotland, Claire Randall finds herself in a world that is not her own. Somehow, by touching one of the standing stones, she tumbles back to the year 1743. At first, Claire desperately tries to get back to her own time, and her husband, Frank. But then she meets Jamie Fraser, the honest and true Scot with fiery red hair and good heart, and feels an instant connection.

If you have not read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, you may want to give it a try. This is the kind of series that will sweep you away to a time long ago—a time of castles, chivalry, honour, rebellion, folklore, and witchcraft.

Claire is a memorable heroine who is clever and funny, kind and brave. She speaks her mind, follows her heart and stands up for what is right. As the story progresses, Claire finds more courage than she ever knew she had.

Here at Idea Exchange, we are anxiously awaiting the next installment of the Outlander series, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. While we wait, we have created a list of books as a tribute to Claire Randall Fraser. These are books that we think might appeal to Claire, and that she might enjoy reading when she has a quiet moment relaxing by the fire. Perhaps you will enjoy reading them, too.

You may also enjoy the Outlander series on DVD.

The ninth book will be released in November! If you haven’t read the previous books, dinna fash, summer is the perfect time to catch up with Jamie and Claire and one of the best romantic adventure stories ever written. Enjoy!
