Over the past year, we have all been through many changes and challenges in order to adapt to our new world. It’s been a time of uncertainty, when nothing is the same as it once was. During these past months, I have found comfort in the kitchen. This has always been a place of comfort for me, but even more lately. I enjoy the precision of measurements, and knowing that everything is going to work out fine. Perhaps it is the feel of the flour in my hands, or knowing when the dough is exactly right. Maybe it’s the flavours of favourite family recipes filling the kitchen with a familiar aroma, and calling everyone to the table. Whatever it is, I am thankful to for it.

There's something very satisfying about sitting down with your treasured recipe binders and boxes and finding long-lost recipes that you want to try again. If you are looking for some new recipes to try, perhaps a new recipe for muffins or cookies, hearty soups and stews or warming crockpot meals to welcome you home on chilly evenings, be sure to check out our extensive collection at Idea Exchange! Another great way to find out about the latest and greatest in cookbooks, is to tune in to the Taste Canada Awards. Each fall, awards are presented to outstanding cookbooks that were published that year in Canada. This year’s Taste Canada Awards will be held virtually on October 25th.
