Summer has arrived! We have tons of programs this month for the whole family to enjoy, including new programs to help inspire you to create something new! Check out the monthly calendar for a full listing of events, and read on for some highlights.
Celebrate the opening of our newest location at the Old Post Office Party from 6:00 – 10:00pm at the Old Post Office! Check out the outdoor performance stage featuring The Reklaws, family dance party with Erick Traplin, maker and tech activities, food and drinks, projection light show, building tours and more. Register early and get your free advance tour tickets here (limited drop-in tour tickets available at the door).
Once the Old Post Office has opened, make sure you check out our Meet A Maker Summer Series! Each week, we will have local makers and artists showcase their work to inspire you to make your own creations. Meet singer/songwriter Ian Foster on Tuesday, July 10 from 6:30 – 7:30pm, artist Shawna Bauer-Kenyon on Thursday, July 19 from 6:30 – 7:30pm, or fashion designer Bella Viglianti on Thursday, July 26 from 6:30 – 7:30pm. All sessions are drop-in at the Old Post Office.
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at 3D design? Our Introduction to Tinkercad program might be for you! On Wednesday, July 25 from 7:00 – 8:00pm at Queen’s Square, you’ll learn the basics of using Tinkercad to design your very own 3D object and how to prepare it for 3D printing. Make sure you bring a USB.
Get ready to DIY! Learn how to make your own bug spray in Gardening & Beyond: DIY Outdoor Skincare on Monday, July 30 from 6:30 – 7:30pm at Preston. This program is led by Jen Novakovich, founder of The Eco Well. She’ll also teach which useful ingredients to use to keep bugs at bay, how to use them effectively in your products, and important considerations when you're choosing a bug spray.
