Programs + Events | May 2, 2018

April showers brought May flowers, but they also brought our May programs! We have plenty of programs for everyone this month at Idea Exchange, including some that will get you outside with your family. Check out the monthly calendar for a full listing of events, and read on for some highlights.

Are you new to Cambridge? Join us as we wander your new home with our Jane’s Walk: Newcomer Stroll at Queen’s Square on Friday, May 4 at 7:00pm. It’s not just strolls for newcomers we have to offer! On Saturday, May 5 from 1:00 – 2:30pm join us at Galt Collegiate Institute for Jane’s Walk: Growing up in West Galt, where a guide will offer a personal take on the local culture. Or learn about the forbidden history of our town before it became part of The Republic of Gilead. Our handmaidens will escort you to the locations used in the hit Hulu show, The Handmaid’s Tale.  Join us at our Queen’s Square location on Sunday, May 6 at 2:00pm for Jane’s Walk: A Handmaid’s Tale. Want more? Check out our page on Jane’s Walk for full details about all the walks happening this month.

Indigenous rights are rarely taught to us but we’re going to change that! At our Queen’s Square location on Thursday, May 10 from 6:30 – 8:30pm, join us for KAIROS Blanket Exercise with the Indigenous Neighbours Program. The Blanket Exercise covers over 500 years of history in a one and a half hour participatory workshop. So come on down and strive to build respectful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. This program also requires registration.

What’s spring without gardening? Come to our Preston location Saturday, May 26 from10:30 - 11:30am for Planting Day! Help us plant our garden so that it can flourish and liven up the community.

One Book, One Community has announced the 2018 selection for the community to read together! This year’s book is Broken Promise by Linwood Barclay. Check out other books by Linwood Barclay and events throughout the region! Learn more about this year’s selection here.

We’re looking forward to seeing you in May at Idea Exchange!
