This eye catching graphic novel is outstanding. It's well researched, well paced, and written with simple black and white illustrations. It tells the story of Cannabis from pre-colonial days, follows it to the discovery of America, and then traces its use through the development of American culture. The author marries the growth of racism in America with the spread of myths about the damage that Cannabis could do. I learned so much about how US bureaucrats used the illegalization of Cannabis to oppress minorities, and to spread fear of the "other" in American society.
