Walker, Sarai.
Think of this novel as "Fight Club" for women. Alicia “Plum” Walker is an assistant at a popular fashion magazine, where she’s underpaid, overworked and constantly made to feel ashamed because she doesn’t conform to the magazine’s ridiculous beauty standards. This changes when she meets members of an underground feminist collective, who may be linked to a series of vigilante attacks against men who are violent against women but are never charged in a court of law. Make no mistake, this a book driven by white-hot rage, a social satire/revenge fantasy with a powerful message about finding one’s own empowerment and refusing to live by rules you don’t believe in. It may be too vengeful for some, but others will probably delight in Plum’s journey to political awakening.
