After the events of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, Miranda returns to Milan with her father, Prospero, and investigates the dark events that led to their exile on the island. Along the way, Miranda embarks on a romance with her lady’s maid, a clever young witch, and learns more about her mysteriously absent mother. Shakespeare purists may recoil at the changes to the classic text, but if you’re willing to countenance a modern, progressive take on the story, this is an enjoyable, lighthearted read.
