This is a collection of four novellas, each exploring a different issue from contemporary society, ranging from proprietary software and the right to repair to inadequate healthcare coverage. Doctorow’s greatest strength as a writer is his ability to create credible “what-if” scenarios about modern technology. If you’re interested the interplay between tech, politics and society, you’ll probably enjoy these thought-experiments.
