This movie is all at once heartbreaking, wise, and gritty. Its about a homeless man, George, well-played by Richard Gere. And his spirit to "exist". It's a private peek into an existence of homeless shelters, of drifting from the subway to the park bench, to a bar. When he meets a new friend, he asks him "Do I exist?" He has no I.D., but he does have a daughter. Its a hard won war to make her take notice, after all those years. "Time out of Mind" makes you look into a world without sentimentality, a life brave in its own way.
