If you want a summer read that lasts, this is the novel. "Into the Water" was a slow read for me because I didn't find it all that gripping, or engaging. Its' a disappointing story after Hawkin's stunning debut, "Girl on the Train". I could not keep all the characters straight because there were so many. Perhaps if the setting took place in several places, rather than just the Drowning Pool, it might have been more interesting. All I can say is after reading, I popped it into a little library down the street and never looked back.
