When Meagan began volunteering with the Reading Buddies program at Clemens Mill Library last year, she never thought she would meet someone who would soon become a best friend. Meagan and her new friend attended different high schools and it’s unlikely they would have met if they both hadn’t volunteered for Reading Buddies.
Like many of the young adults who have volunteered for our Reading Buddies program over the last 2 years, Meagan loves to read and enjoys working with children. If you feel the same and would like to mentor young children, helping them improve their reading skills, our Reading Buddies program might just be what you’re looking for.
The Reading Buddies program pairs a teen with a child in grades one to three, for one-on-one reading. Through this program, teens, aged 14 to 17, have a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience working with children, as well as a chance to earn their community volunteer hours.
