Idea Exchange is proud to introduce our 2019/2020 Teen Tastemakers, our teen ambassadors and authorities on good taste. The Tastemakers provide input about our collection, write content for our website, and help to prepare and promote teen events. Keep an eye on our teen page for interesting ideas and recommendations!

Aidan, Grade 12

I am a 17-year-old Grade 12 student who is going to Preston High School. At school I am currently taking trades courses like Manufacturing and Transportation Technology. I am a decent welder and I also work on the engine lathe. My interests outside of school are computers. I am currently enrolled in an online university level computer programming course that is teaching me Java. Also, at home I do computer restoration and repair. For example, I have an old Macintosh 512K (1984) that I successfully restored, and a Macintosh Classic (1990).

Benjamin, Grade 12

I will give you a little bit of information about myself. I am 17 studying maths and computer programming and I am certified to use large power tools and all different types of welding essentials. One of my favorite things to do in my spare time is to watch Netflix and YouTube with my family. This summer was a lot of fun because my family and I traveled to Quebec City together to enjoy some French food. My hobbies include but are not limited to hiking, reading, swimming, and video games. My time this month at the Teen Tastemakers is going to be used to promote awareness for climate change and how serious its impact will have on all of us in the near future.

I also love to run cross-country, make art, and volunteer.

Hello, everyone! I am Joan, a Grade 12 student from St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School in Cambridge, Ontario. My favourite subjects in school are: Math, Biology, and Chemistry. During my spare time, I enjoy reading books, listening to music, and playing musical instruments. Keyboard, guitar, and ukulele are the instruments that I love playing. In reading, the books I adore the most are: psychological thrillers, literary classics, and science and math textbooks. Classical, jazz, indie, and avant-garde are the music genres I always listen to. Furthermore, I want to be a medical doctor in the near future because it is a childhood dream I’ve always wanted to pursue.
